Dear NY GOP Reps: Expelling Santos won't save your seat after you voted for Maga Mike Johnson
Some Congressional Republicans are desperately trying to call themselves “moderates” because in 2022 most of them won in Districts Biden carried in 2020.
Six of these seats are in New York State. Note the difference between their 2022 margins and Biden’s 2020 margin in the chart below, ranging from a 6.8 point to an 18 point difference.

In a futile effort to appear “moderate,” all of George Santos's NY colleagues are trying to expel him. On Wednesday, Freshman Reps. Nick LaLota, Anthony D’Esposito, Marcus Molinaro, Brandon Williams and Mike Lawler signed a letter urging colleagues to vote to expel, writing “This issue is not a political one but a moral one. … This is a question of right and wrong,”
But these five forfeited any moral high ground last week when they unanimously voted for Maga Mike Johnson as Speaker, a man who, among many other things
worked with Exodus International, an organization that existed to convince LGBTQ+ people to embrace “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ,
advocates criminalization of homosexuality
is an outspoken climate change denier
believes the United States is a Christian nation
was the “architect” of the effort to overturn the 2020 election.
So no LaLota, D’Esposito, Molinaro, Williams and Lawler. No amount of Santos-bashing or other phony attempts to play the “moderate” can save you next year.
Do you really think the people of your districts who voted for Biden by over or near double-digit margins will be pleased you support the guy who tried to negate their votes?
You have irretrievably sold your political and moral souls to someone who could not be farther from the beliefs of your constituents.
