In an effort to reset both physically and mentally before the week begins, we like to set some time aside every Sunday to clean our entire house from top to bottom. Do you ever do that? It helps us set the tone for the week and does wonders for our sanity to go from a messy house (because who has the time to clean every single night?) to a somewhat orderly house on Sunday.
And let me just say this: is there truly a better feeling than a clean kitchen? Or newly-washed sheets on your bed? Or what about the pile of clothes being put away where they belong? I don’t think so. We’ve gotten the kids in on the cleaning, too. No one escapes the Sunday cleaning!
Speaking of Sunday, are you watching The Super Bowl tonight? We’re not big into sports, as in, they never ever make an appearance on our TV screens, but we usually like to watch the halftime show every year. We may tune in for that, but other than those 13 minutes, it’s a regular old Sunday evening in our house.
Meanwhile, even though we felt productive today, the dreary weather is not doing much for our motivation. It took a lot for us to get the energy to clean the house, because all I wanted to do was sleep as the gray clouds crept slowly and kept the sun away all day. Weather doesn’t usually affect my mood like it does PJ’s, but we’ve had nonstop gloomy weather for the last few days, complete with so much rain, and I have to say, I am ready for it to move on.
We have one more day of rain and then it’s sunny for the rest of the week!
EDITOR’S NOTE: Some housekeeping with our new Keep & Delete series, and how to unsubscribe from the Keep & Delete emails specifically, if you’d like to do so.
First off, if you missed what Keep & Delete is, we explain it all right here, if you want to check it out.
Secondly, I figured out a way to send our daily Keep & Delete newsletters out to only those who wish to receive them in their email inbox! They will live under a “section” of Okay McKay titled Keep & Delete at the very top of the homepage, three spaces to the right of “Home”, as seen below:
Right now, our Keep & Delete posts will will go out to everyone who is subscribed to our newsletter (whether you’re a paid subscriber or a free one), and then you have the option to opt out of receiving only the Keep & Delete emails if you want, but you will still be able to receive our regular Tuesday issue.
From Substack Support, here’s how to opt our of receiving our daily Keep & Delete emails to your inbox:
1. Navigate to your account Settings page via www.substack.com/settings. Or when logged into your Substack account, select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
2. Under Subscriptions, click on the publication that has sections you'd like to subscribe to.
3. On the next page, slide the toggle next to each section (in this case, it will say Keep & Delete) you want to receive notifications about.
To unsubscribe from a section:
1. Navigate to your Settings page via www.substack.com/settings and click on the publication you want to make changes to (as seen in steps above).
2. Slide the toggle next to each section you'd like to stop receiving emails or app notifications from. A gray toggle indicates that notifications will be off for that section.
Hope this helps!!
From here on out, expect a Keep & Delete email in your inbox every night around 8:30p ET, unless you opt out of receiving them, of course.
Have a great night, friends!! xoxo
My weekend schedule is generally the same, with laundry starting at 7 p.m. Friday night until Sunday. We have tiered rates with the electricity, and the lowest rates start Friday 7 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m., so that's when I get the major jobs done. Gotta keep the bills down any way we can, right?
Sunday morning, my "soon-to-be-husband" Chris joins his choir at an all-inclusive church so I use that time to vacuum the house, with some good motivating music blaring in the background! He works a lot, being in the graphic artist/design/marketing industry (I am SO lucky to have him), so I take care of all the cleaning, organizing, most of the shopping, etc. I love to see him come home and see the house in order, which pleases him immensely! It's the least I can do for "my man"! And I know he really appreciates it.
I have a lot of "keeps", can't really think of any deletes this week! And that's a good thing, right?
Right now, my Sundays are mostly involved with going to my mother’s house to water her plants, getting her mail, and visiting her in her assisted-living studio apartment. Otherwise it’s catching up with things and relaxing. It probably should be cleaning and straightening, but generally, it’s not. And today it’s absolutely not watching the Super Bowl.
By the way, did I miss something? Is Vino & Vent on a temporary hiatus? The past two Sundays I’ve been on my iPad waiting for them to start, and they haven’t. Usually when they get canceled, you’ll post something, but nothing was posted the last two weeks about it. So I just wanted to make sure that some kind of announcement didn’t happen that I somehow missed.
Anyway, hope your week is a terrific one!
