It seems sloppy (also by Ars) to report on the copyright registration thing without mentioning that it's pretty much meaningless. Receiving copyright *registration* is completely different from having copyright. For a copyright registration, the Copyright Office *does not check* that the work is copyrightable or that you are the author. It just makes a public record that you have *claimed* this and the date. The registry is used to resolve disputes about when a work was completed and who claimed it first – the question of whether there is a valid copyright in the first place is completely separate.
It's similar to how having filed a patent means nothing, that's not the same as the patent being granted, which is not the same as the patent not getting laughed out of court.
I look forward to "digesting" every issue. Two morsels give me heartburn. Words and/or expressions that I am not familiar with. Maybe a Glossary Box would help, couldn't hurt except take up space. Just an idea.
Daphne Keller's suggestion is a simple step toward DELEGATION of control over our feed moderation to intermediaries that each of us is free to choose from an open market - what @MChrisRiley and I suggest in @TechPolicyPress.
