Tomorrow is the day that the Alaska Department of Education releases the Alaska Star State Test results. This test provides parents with the unique opportunity to see test scores that show how students and schools are doing toward meeting Alaska standards in comparison to other students and schools around Alaska. As a parent, you will be able to see how your own student is doing within our school, district, and across Alaska. Please look for more information coming out from the district about your student scores in the coming days, and take a look at the resources below to get a better idea of what this test is all about.
On another topic, I would like to share that there are a number of clubs sprouting up around Peterson school. There are multiple chess clubs, a book club, an art club, and a growing writing club. Teachers and staff are encouraging these clubs to organically grow on their own through student leadership and interest. I have been excited to see students stepping up to lead and organize groups. Clubs usually meet once a week around lunch time.

Teacher Inservice, No School on Friday
KIBSD is facilitating a teacher inservice on Friday. This means no school for student, but the learning continues for teachers as the district focuses on literacy strategies and the science of teaching reading.
