I mother my rhythm in…
steady rest time
steady meal time
limited technology
community
nourishing movement
hydration
returning to the page
This is what I come back to again and again and again as a daily, forever practice.
A couple years ago, I realized that I used the idea of 'being easy on myself' to practice habits and coping that actually made everything feel heavier and less manageable.
Being easy on oneself actually looks like honoring our limited and changing energy through daily rhythms and responsive structures, both internal and external.
And the truest pattern that I learn over and over: When I need rhythm the most is precisely when it feels elusive and inaccessible.
When resistance is the loudest, 'being easy' once again translates to 'letting myself off the hook' from practices of consistency and self-trust.
One way that I personally ‘mother my rhythm’ is through continually returning to the page to write. I normalize forgetting or resisting, and I make the path of the return more smooth and less shame-tinted.
When I return to the page while hydrating *and* in community? There is relief and fulfillment. There is so much more room for inspiration to catch me off guard. There is the remembering that simple actions cause major shifts when we keep on showing up together.
Here are two monthly rhythms that nourish and enliven me when life is fully. Maybe the same is true for you too:
1. The New Moon Writing Gathering is this Saturday from 11am-12:00pm EST.
30 minutes of writing to journal prompts and an optional 30 minutes of connecting with each other as a monthly gift to paid-supporters of this letter.
As a paid-supporter, you are automatically granted access to these New Moon Writing Gatherings and are welcome to attend as many or as few as you’d like.
🌑 If you are joining and would like to share some themes that are alive for you right now, please feel welcome to reply directly to this letter (or email at maggy@regardingdew.com) to let me know. Community feedback will help to guide the journal prompts that I offer so that the New Moon Writing Gatherings resonate for what is going on in your life.
2. Have you noticed? The last Saturday of the month is approaching...
Another Community Discovery Writing Gathering is on February 25 from 11am-12:00/12:30pm EST…
If you find yourself holding back, these gatherings are for you.
If you find that you are outpacing yourself in a million ways—even as you try so hard to be present—these gatherings are for you.
If you find yourself craving more spaciousness and connection in your days, with both yourself and others, welcome.
February 25th’s CDWG is with the studio’s first guest facilitator, the brilliant and kind Chanelle Allesandre.
Chanelle Allesandre has two cats, an apple tree, & a pear tree, & a late October birthday. Her hands work with many things, but some of her favorite of those things are: flower essences, the harp, the pen, the herbs in a tisane. She is a writer, an intuitive herbalist, an occasional radio host, an educator, & creates improvisational soundscapes.
To be in Chanelle’s presence is to feel expansive possibility and groundedness at the same time.
This is what the gatherings aim to evoke, which is why I am especially excited and grateful for this upcoming one.
If you’re joining, consider bringing water to the gathering along with pens and paper. In Chanelle’s words…
I always invite those who gather with me to bring a small vessel of water to our session/class. This water is not for drinking & after our time, I ask that they offer that water out to the earth, into a garden, or to a body of water nearby them.
Also, any flower essences, tisanes, water, or other beverages to consume! And a candle. All optional.
⚘ Registration closes two hours before the gathering starts, unless you purchase a bundle ⚘

I know there are herbalists, gardeners, and plant-appreciators that read these letters, The Winter Horae highlights some of Chanelle’s plant poetics.
