The Wiz - Prior to debuting on Broadway in March, the revival of The Wiz has been doing a limited national tour. It is a fantastic and fun show. The singing, music, choreography, costumes etc are all 10 out of 10. Vogue has a wonderful write up with so much history and background on the cast and show.
Edward Enninful’s Goodbye Vogue Cover - Wow!! You have to read this brilliant and touching article by Robin Givhan (who has just returned from her “book leave” to the Washington Post as the Senior-Critic-At-Large.) “Edward Enninful’s British Vogue Mic Drop” is a love letter to the British Vogue cover and to Enninful personally as well as his career. There are multiple perspectives on how powerful this cover was, but reading about how it came together and the connections between Enninful and the cover models makes this a really beautiful perspective. The ending is absolutely lovely - especially this quote “Instead, he leaves after having given more women a place in fashion. Their rightful place. He is not the next Anna Wintour, as so many speculated he would be. A more germane question in this moment is: Who’s the next Edward Enninful?”
More content I appreciated this week on Enninful’s final British Vogue cover was from
who wrote “Reading Between the Lines of Edward Enninful’s Goodbye to British ‘Vogue’” exploring some of the challenges in what wasn’t said in the goodbye letter to readers that was published in this magazine.Infamous Podcast - I fell down a rabbit hole that I am loving! 🐰🕳️ At the beginning of Odell’s article she mentions that she was on the podcast Infamous to discuss Anna Wintour. I mean, my fingers never scrolled faster to download and start. “Anna Wintour and Fashion’s Discontent” is a great listen. Additionally, this podcast is hosted by Vanessa Grigoriadis and Gabriel Sherman and the best way to describe it is a mash-up of pop-culture and business with the perfect blending of gossip-y and informative reporting. How you might know Grigoriadis - she wrote “Power Girls” for New York Magazine (which was iconic in 1998 about the Publicist industry and potentially launched the MTV television show PoweR Girls) as well as articles on Karl Largerfeld and Tory Burch’s Ex Factor. I listened to a 3 parter on the Kardashians (specifically Kylie and her Forbes disputed “billionaire” status) and I’m looking forward to the Tory Burch episodes, Taylor Swift and anything else they publish going forward.
NYFW News:
Here is your “cheat sheet” for what to expect from Vogue Business.
Early notes - Proenza Schouler looks “chic n’ simple” (care of Rory Satran on Instagram Stories) and “edgy, modern, *****, cool” (care of Lauren Santo Domingo on Instagram Stories). The all black cool suiting separates, with exaggerated shawl collars and thick, crisp pieces made me think of a rich city editor wardrobe. And Khaite looks fabulous again playing with proportions. Strong silhouettes, beautiful textures, sheer layers and the perfect punctuation of burgundy.
This is a great video from the NYTimes of how the Marc Jacobs show came together. For a good listen, check out this episode of the Vogue Run-Through with Marc Jacobs - perfect blend of art and commerce when he says that the circle of his creativity isn’t complete until it is worn on the street.
I’m excited to see what Tory Burch has in store after her past recent shows, which have been impressive and very well received editorially and in the fashion press. Last season we had many articles about the Return of Tory Burch. This season ahead of her fashion show (scheduled for February 12th at 8pm EST) we are reading about how the business has changed over the last two decades. See the Financial Times article by Chantal Fernandez here. Nicole Phelps wrote a 20 year retrospective article for Vogue and shared so many stories about the Tory Burch brand through the years.

The comments here are so kind and a treasure -
started a series on Friendships.- writes fabulously about women & money - I’m especially loving her latest series, In Her Purse where she interviewed another Substacker, . Stanberry was the founding editor of the Refinery29 Money Diaries.
- writes and is a designer and art director. I love how she dives into a shelf (grocery, drug store, high-end pharmacy etc) and writes so hilariously about anything and everything. Example, this week’s newsletter kicks off with “Mustard for the person who has the palate of a 277-year-old.” She wrapped up her gem of a newsletter interviewing who wrote her latest timely with Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year, about the color red.
I wrote about the business side of resale sites earlier this week but if you want to find some gems another Substacker to check out is the lovely
at with her latest resale finds here. (I’ve also added her to my list of virtual friends I’d love to meet IRL - thank you Irene for the lovely comment about Sarah’s Retail Diary.Go inside the world of costume styling for movies and television with
in “Recycled Costumes”- shared a wonderful digest to build your uniform with her “The Essentials Guide” and all the picks are perfection.
- wrote about Kick Flare Pants and I totally recommend reading it. I also think she brings up a great point - we talk about “dupes” often and sometimes the product isn’t exactly a dupe. They are just the same/similar style product but one isn’t copying another. So if you are looking for a great pair of kick flare pants, which are clearly trending now, check out this post.
