Imagine a young teenage girl. She feels socially awkward, uncomfortable with changes in her body, and doesn’t know how to cope with new and sometimes painful emotions. She becomes more and more obsessed with her weight, restricting calories and obsessively exercising. Instead of recognizing this child is suffering from a dangerous mental illness, friends and teachers shower her with approval and affirmation of her increasingly distorted sense of self. The school hangs pro-anorexia flags in her classroom, starts after-school calorie-counting clubs, and promotes books with happy, popular, emaciated girls on the cover in the school library. She’s bombarded on social-media, television, and movies with the message that, despite all scientific and medical evidence to the contrary, (1) she was simply “born in the wrong body,” (2) she can experience relief from her emotional pain by making her mistaken body the central focus of her entire existence, and (3) she can eliminate all of her pain and problems with a lifetime of prescription appetite suppressants and gastric-bypass surgery. Now, imagine that when the girl’s parents try to intervene, they are shamed and demeaned, threatened with the loss of their parental rights, and ridiculed publically as a “fat-loving extremists.”
Sound ridiculous? Unfortunately, this is pretty much the kind of upside down world of insanity that tens of thousands of confused and vulnerable children (and their families) are experiencing every day at the hands of the radical trans agenda (RTA). I know, because my family was one of them.
Five years ago, a teacher and psychologist in Seattle Public Schools announced that our 8 year-old son “was a girl.” This incredible pronouncement came out of left field and was based on nothing more than a smart, sensitive child innocently mentioning that he “didn’t always feel like other boys.” If they had bothered to ask our son any real questions, they would have quickly realized that he meant he wasn’t very athletic and sometimes felt left out on the playground. But, they didn’t bother to do this. Instead, even though he had displayed absolutely no signs of gender dysphoria before (or since), these “educators” pounced and came in pronouns a-blazing. Without our knowledge, they selected a new girl’s name for him and planned a class party to celebrate it, and then issued a stern warning to his mother that failing to support his “transition” would, and I quote, “ruin him for the rest of his life.”
Now, I knew these people were completely wrong about our son and clearly could no longer be trusted with his education. But at the time, I didn’t know that we had just experienced first-hand the emergence of an incredibly dangerous, radical agenda. A manipulative and insidious cancer growing within our society and infecting schools and children across the nation. And I certainly didn’t know that Washington state was actively working to make it more difficult for parents to fight back to protect their innocent, vulnerable children.
But I do now.
Now I know that our educational and medical establishments push the affirmation of a child’s “gender identity” and encourage social transition (use of new names, pronouns, bathrooms, etc.) above all else.
Now I know that the majority of young people with gender confusion experience other mental health issues like generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and depression, but little to no psychological support for these issues is ever offered or encouraged.
Now I know that the natural desire for peer acceptance is fueling gender confusion in adolescents and teens (particularly in girls), with two thirds of those having one or more friends who also claim to be “trans.”
Now I know that “transition” is often pushed as a solution to the entirely normal anxiety around fitting in socially. In fact, one study of kids who chose to “de-transition” showed nearly half were under the assumption that they would be “treated better” if they were “perceived as the [other] gender.”
Now I know that autistic children are disproportionately impacted by the radical trans agenda, with 48% of children seen in the UK’s (aptly named) Gender Identity Development Service being on the autism spectrum.
Now I know that our girls are also being dramatically impacted with the demographics of those seeking “transition” shifting from overwhelmingly middle-aged men to predominantly adolescent girls. In fact, there is hardly any scientific literature before 2012 that shows girls ages 11 to 21 ever having developed gender dysphoria at all.
Now I know that young girls are literally suffocating themselves in an effort to appear more masculine. “Chest binders,” barbaric devices given to girls (often without parental consent), have been shown to cause abnormal lung function and an overall reduction in lung volume.
Now I know that opposing the RTA is absolutely NOT homophobic. In fact, many in the LGB community are speaking out against the grooming and sexualization of children in schools.
Now I know that gender dysphoria is almost always temporary and resolved after puberty, with studies indicating that 87.8% of boys with gender-related distress in childhood “desist” from the concern by age 20.
Now I know that children of any age are allowed to “socially transition” in many Washington schools, including changing clothes and using alternative pronouns and different names in school, without parental notification or approval.
Now I know that in Washington state, children over the age of 12 can receive “gender affirming care” (a euphemism for stopping a child’s puberty using hormones or surgically mutilating their breasts/genitals) without their parents’ involvement.
Now I know that there is huge money to be made by the RTA. Just a decade ago there were only a handful of “pediatric gender clinics” in the US that prescribed puberty blockers and surgery. Now there are more than 60. By 2030, the “market” for puberty blockers and child-mutilation surgery is projected to grow to $5B, up nearly 1500% from 2019.
Yes. Now, I know.
When I was running for office (CD-08) this cycle, people rightfully asked what I thought the most critical issues were. In the dumpster-fire world in which we find ourselves, there were obviously plenty to choose from.
The radical Left’s attack on fossil fuels and the federal government’s printing/spending money like drunken frat boys at a strip club left us with skyrocketing gas and grocery prices and inflation that’s crippling the middle class. Wide-open border policies allowing millions of unvetted illegals into our country and emboldening cartels who traffic women, children, and Fentanyl without a fight. Rampant homelessness and crime turning our once safe and beautiful neighborhoods into no-go zones of filth and violence. A political and weaponized judicial system. A medical establishment peddling dangerous lies. A governor pushing illogical mandates without recourse. And on and on.
But even with everything that has happened since I decided to run for Congress, my top priority was—and continues to be—to save our children. Yes, these other issues must be immediately dealt with if we are to turn our country away from the rapidly-approaching cliff of Communism, but I genuinely believe that if we don’t stand up and push back for our children — then what’s the point? No kids, no future.
I do believe that this is the most critical election in our lifetime. Unfortunately, I have yet to hear from the Republican Party or most Republican candidates on the Radical Trans Agenda. But I remain hopeful that they will step up and take a stand. If they don’t, we must force them to. Because make no mistake, if we win this election but still lose (another) generation of children to the demoralization, indoctrination, and radicalization of the radical Left, there will be no future for our country.
Folks in the Snoqualmie Valley School District (SVSD) can look up SVSD policy 3211P. This is the district's 'Gender-Inclusive Schools' policy allowing for, among other things:
- Students will be allowed to use the restroom that corresponds to the gender identity they assert at school.
- The district should provide the student access to the locker room that corresponds to the gender identity they assert at school.
- In any school activity [including] overnight trips, students will be permitted to participate in accordance with the gender identity they assert at school.
