OK…it is California, but here we are — February 2023 — one month short of that oh-so-special anniversary. The anniversary that will live in infamy in American history where the vast majority rolled over willingly as their governments across the fruited plain committed multiple crimes against them. Because? Respiratory infection.
Instead of raging, why, many of them went all in, enjoying in some deep, dark corner of themselves the ability to actually command others. Knowing that “law enforcement” had their backs (in fact, as co-criminals) must have been the cherry on top for a lot of them. Just such a special time in “America.”
And those “good times” roll on. Here we have a guy who has finally (finally!) had it. Refuses at long last to go along, and what do the “good” people at the company that he says became like “family” to him do? Why, his “family” gave him the boot. Showed him the door. Kicked him to the curb. Gave him the ax.
In a quick, under-three-minute video, Michael Oxford tells his story. He starts using some profanity toward the end, so beware, but who can blame him? Well, except maybe the members of his now-departed “family” that includes one of the geniuses from my former profession, “Human Resources.” Listen to what she tells him. That deep, dark corner…

So, we battle on. I wonder sometimes if this country can continue as one, one comprising fifty states. Some (many?) might as well be different countries. (Actually, “these united States” came together as different countries…uniting for a common defense, common currency, and free trade — but as distinct and different countries.)
From my vantage point, it appears that Florida would be Ben Franklin’s “country.” It’s mine. California certainly is not. Massachusetts, the state hilariously marketed as “the cradle of liberty,” is not. New York, my home state that’s home to the city to which both sets of grandparents immigrated early in the last century, is not. How many more are simply no longer “America”? How many are?
We’ll see what happens, but we have seen the enemy, and it is us — with too rare and regrettably few exceptions. ‘Tis this small cohort that will battle on…
“We fight not for glory nor for wealth nor honours, but only and alone we fight for freedom, which no good man surrenders but with his life.” – Bernard De Linton, Abbot of Arbroath, Scotland, The Declaration of Arbroath, 1320 A.D.
It's at times like this I wish I was wealthy and owned some companies so I could immediately hire this guy who was fired for not masking. I pray he wins every legal adjudication he seeks and a big time monetary damage award!
