The Family & Care Referendum Stretch
Poll results, concerns and clarity (in a very confusing situation)
I’m writing this on Saturday March 2nd at 8am, I’ll proof it tonight once kids are asleep and it’ll be in your inboxes on Sunday morning in replace of the usual Sunday Stretch.
By this time next week the votes will have been cast and we will most likely have an idea of which way the referendums went.
But right now - 6 days out… only 3% of those that took part in my polls (1,200 women) feel that there is clarity around this topic and what we are being asked to decide on. And at times I include myself in that 97% of confusion.
I have read, listened, gathered and tried to break it down for myself, and I’m happy to share what I’ve learned here with you.
*I am not a public service broadcaster. I do not have a media responsibility to be neutral but I also do not have an agenda, nor have I decided how I will vote with 100% certainty yet. I am also just one woman with limited time and no team, so no I have not had a team of producers and researchers dig in and out of every potential legal dispute possible from the conclusion of this vote. I am as confused as you are. I am as motivated for a better society as you are.
Can we also take a moment for the amazingly idiotic idea to hold it on Int Women’s Day - assuming it would rally the troops instead it closes the schools (not all) meaning I am performing my homely duties once more.
