The self-congratulatory instinct for the Trump Industrial Complex survived the political combat of campaign 2022 in fine fettle, as they used to say.
The great news around Senator Raphael Warnock’s three-point victory against the most ludicrously unfit political candidate of the post-Trump era is that it is a victory for journalism. The Daily Beast has declared it so. In fact, according to an email [part of which is below] sent by its editor-in-chief Tracy Connor, but for The Daily Beast, the American people would never have known as much as they do about Herschel Walker and his unique character. It seems institutional narcissism is a contagion. Apparently, its airborne having reached wherever The Daily Beast calls home all the way from Mar-a-Lago. Perhaps it was Herschel Walker’s conduct that was the reason Georgia voters found out about it. It wasn’t a secret.
Maybe if courage is to be heralded it should be directed at the women who had the guts to tell their stories after Herschel Walker held a gun to their head, but I forgot, the Georgia Senate race was really about The Daily Beast and the bravery of its journalism.
