Fourth in my series of Brilliant Friends, you can find the first three at the bottom of this newsletter!
Katherine Miller: Katherine and I met way back in DC in the 1990s as two of the first women opposition researchers in the Democratic Party and progressive sector…and this was before the internet, so we lived the microfiche life while surviving the very male world of oppo researchers! She is a Terker Distinguished Fellow at George Washington University, and was the Founding Executive Director of the Chef Action Network and worked at the James Beard Foundation as Vice President of Impact where she focused on supporting and developing leaders in the food system to create new and innovative programs to help address gender equity, sustainability, food waste, and child nutrition. Her book At the Table: The Chef’s Guide for Advocacy comes out this September and you can pre-order it NOW!
Carri Twigg: Carri and I met through our political work in Ohio in 2008 and she has had an amazing trajectory in her political and culture work from Ohio to the White House to New York to Los Angeles. Carri is the co-founder of Culture House, a black, brown and women owned production company and culture consultancy. I’ve enjoyed their first few productions, especially Hair Tales, a documentary on Black women, beauty, and hair, and Growing Up, a reality series about young adulthood. I can’t wait to see everything they do at the intersection of things I care so much amount - culture, entertainment and change! Via Culture House’s productions and social media, I continue to be introduced to new artists and creators. Get to know some of Carri’s work and her below!
