I promised you a free comic and here it is! Enjoy.

A Little Background
Awhile ago, I started working on a comic called L.I.S. (which may or may not stand for “Lesbians In Space.”) It is (was?) a satirical space opera about an inter-galactic V.I.P. shuttleship with an all-female crew. I was working with a talented Italian artist who ended up bailing on the project before completing the fourth issue. For a while the main book has been sitting in my Dropbox 75% complete. Honestly, the satire in those completed issues is a little dated by now, so I am not sure it would work even if I found an artist with a similar style to do the final issue. I don’t know. It was a heartache to be sure. The core story is solid and the characters are wonderful. Maybe some day I will revisit it. In some form.
BUT, it was not a total loss. Because of Rodney. Rodney is the ship’s cat. A well-loved orange tabby from the future. While I was writing the main book, I kept imagining Rodney curled up asleep on the bridge or napping in the crew’s lounge or warming himself in engineering. I found myself wondering about his dreams. So, I started writing them. Satirical cat-starring takes on traditional fables and fairy tales.
I thought it would be cool if a different artist with a distinctive style could draw them. My pal, the incomparable Jules Rivera immediately sprang to mind.
If you don’t know Jules’ work, you should. She is the current writer/illustrator of the Mark Trail comic strip. Her webcomic, Love, Joolz is brilliant, honest, and fricking funny. I highly recommend.
Any way, if you stick around here, you’ll get to see more of her awesome work as Country Mouse heads to the city.
Love it! Looking forward to what happens to country mouse in the city! And I do hope LIS comes back around some day in some form....imagine a collaboration with Alison Bechdel... Wouldn't it be hilarious to see DTWF...IN SPACE. hahaha.
Love it! Can't wait to see what happens next...
