Welcome back. Another Monday holiday and I’ve chosen to send on Tuesday. I’m thinking of changing to a Sunday send-out, kind of a catchy “The Sunday Sonnet”. Being that no one seems interested in any kind of engagement I’ll see how that feels. It may make the time consuming effort less effortless as well.
This week’s sonnet is a Crybin Variant Petrarchan, ABBACDDC EFGEFG.
Contentment is a Choice #221 Perception often blinds the eye to fact As slog we through our lives from day to day. A bird sits in our hand yet still we say The bush beyond our reach holds all we lacked. If only what we haven’t got was ours Contentment then would rest upon our souls. To gather baubles seemingly consoles Our hearts that long and waste their fleeting hours. To stop and think for but a moment takes But just that moment yet rewards are found In all we have, that heal a heart that aches. The tears we’ve shed could fill a thousand lakes, Yet also douse the burning that’s profound. And that is when the soul within awakes. Frank Garnick © Copyright The Archer's March 10 January 2023
We often think of happiness as a goal. If we could just get to point B, we’ll be happy. I think it more reasonable to simply choose to be happy as we go through our lives. Yes, we have difficulties and setbacks. We want things, whether they be possessions or situations, we feel a lack that drives us forward. Nothing wrong with goals but happiness is a state of mind. We control nothing in life but our own minds.
Each day that goes past I have this fear that my muse will desert me. Although my writing might not be important to anyone else it’s very important to me, on so many levels. Fear is something to be conquered. I’m at 17 days into the new year and my muse is still coming through for me, 8 so far this year, 223 total in less than 13 months. Although I still don’t have a timeline for publishing I’m slowly crawling towards it.
I’d ask for my readers to go to my website and suggest a sonnet for a future discussion. I generally keep around 50 on that site.
Please,
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day.
Love this, and totally agree.
