The dreaded day has arrived: Monday.
It’s the day where the fun and freedom of the weekend go to die.
Trust me, I am all too aware of the soul-sucking routine of working for “the man”.
Along with that pit you get in your stomach come Sunday night, when you realize that your temporary 48 hour lease on life is expiring just as quickly as it began.
It is all to easy to feel depleted and pessimistic as we start the week, especially when we are stuck in a loop of doing the same things and living the same day over and over and over.
*sigh*
But the truth from a Higher Perspective, is that every day, moment, and breath is a beautiful and fresh slate that is rich with potential and opportunity.
You just have to be present and aware enough to realize it and it embrace it.
Breathwork is a great way to ground ourself back in the present moment.
I invite you to take a deep breath with me now.
*inhale* for 1-2-3
*hold* for 1-2-3
*exhale* for 1-2-3
Ahh… Doesn’t that feel better?
This breathing technique is called “Box Breathing” (typically done with 4 counts, but I prefer 3 counts) and is the one I use most often to center myself and ground into the present moment. It can also be done to the tempo of songs, which makes it more fun!
Be here now.
Leave the worries and burdens of the past behind you.
Why?
You will never live this day again.
You will never be this young again.
This could be your last day to feel the sunshine on your skin or the wind on your face.
Learn to appreciate the freshness of a new week; the mystery in the unknown.
Grab Life by its’ metaphorical balls and LIVE IT, MAN! (or woman, or they/them)
It’s so easy to lose excitement and spontaneity, especially when we’ve become complacent due to stress or boredom.
And sure, there’s comfort in complacency, but challenging ourselves is just as important to integrate into our lives, especially as we get older.
Let’s be honest, the older we get the easier it is to get more stuck in our ways.
Trying new things, laughing, dancing, spending time in nature… that is what keeps you young and in love with life.
Speaking of nature, that is such an underrated form of medicine. Even just a screen-free 15 minute walk outside can vastly improve my mindset and mood. It helps me reconnect to myself and to God. I love exploring new trails and parks, even though it used to make me so anxious when I first started out.
The more we open ourselves up to having new experiences, the more comfortable we become with it- and the less scary it feels.
Weekly Challenge:
Try ONE new thing this week.
Small or big, it doesn’t matter..
It could be as simple as cooking a new recipe, reading a new book genre/author, starting that new hobby you’ve always wanted too, or going to a new restaurant…
Just go into it with an open and positive mindset and allow yourself to experience the fullness of it- good, bad, or otherwise.
I’d love to hear what you decide to do!
Personally, I will be breaking out my roller skates and practicing again because I’ve been shying away from it since I get embarassed still when I fall down... But oh well, Fuck it! I don’t give advice I wouldn’t take myself so yes I will try these challenges along with you all. :)
Song of the Week:
“Cellular Upgrade (We Saw Lions Remix) by Equanimous & Activation
This specific song is filled with high vibrational frequencies and affirmations. Great vibes all around! Great to play while you sleep, shower, or drive to work because it will help raise your vibration while it re-programs your subconscious with abundance frequencies.
I think that’s all for now!
May your week be blessed beyond your wildest imagination.
See you next week,
Mackenzie Simmons
