Drum rollssss! 🥁
You’re welcome to the first-ever issue of the ‘The Iconka Guy.’
I’m super excited to have you on board and can't wait to start sharing with you the latest insights and trends in the world of graphic design and branding.
As we embark on this journey together, I’d like to jump straight into some common myths about graphic design that have been floating around.
Just to clear the air.
Here are the top 5 myths that we often hear and my take on them based on extensive research:
“Graphic design is just about making things look pretty.”
While aesthetics are certainly important in graphic design, they are only one aspect. Good graphic design is about effectively communicating a message, solving problems, and creating engaging experiences for the user.
“Anyone can be a graphic designer”
While it is true that anyone can pick up design software and start creating graphics, being a good graphic designer requires a combination of technical skills, creative thinking, and a deep understanding of the target audience. It takes years of practice and studies to master the craft. Consistency should be your best friend in case you want to go far.
“Graphic design is a dying field.”
On the contrary, graphic design is more relevant and in demand than ever. With the rise of digital media and the increasing need for strong branding and visual storytelling, the demand for skilled graphic designers is only going to grow. And especially in this developing side of the world, the opportunities are abundant.
“Graphic design is all about copying and pasting.”
While graphic designers do use templates and pre-made elements, true graphic design is about creating original, custom solutions that meet the specific needs and goals of the project. It involves research, brainstorming, concept development, and problem-solving. And with the spread of artificial intelligence(AI), it will be interesting.
“Graphic design is easy and not worth pursuing as a career.”
Graphic design is not a walk in the park. It requires dedication, hard work, and a passion for learning and staying up to date with the latest trends and techniques. But for those willing to put in the effort, it can be a rewarding and fulfilling career that offers endless opportunities for creativity and growth.
These are just a few of the myths, and I hope it clears up some misconceptions you might have had about design.
Let me end with a quick ask.
