Battambang may not be the first city that springs to mind when you think of Cambodia, but if you’ve been to the country it’s highly likely you’ll have heard of the place, which is known to grow some of the best rice and fresh produce in the country. A former provincial capital of the Siamese Empire and a trading hub since the 11th century, Battambang is now a city in the process of rebuilding its once-rich creative scene post-covid. Three days here will see you eat like a king, while the city is well-placed for excursions into the countryside to learn how the (metaphorical) sausage is made.
