Law in General
Excerpt from the book Mediations on Christian Dogma, Volume II - Theology views God as the Supreme Legislator, the source of all laws—natural, moral, religious, civil, and unwritten—by which human life must be conformed, with conscience serving as an internal guide molded by these external laws to direct us toward our ultimate destiny. Law, in its abstract nature, is a just, reason-based regulation for action, established by legitimate public authority delegated by God, aimed at the common good rather than individual gain, and binding on the conscience with a sacred force that demands willing obedience.
