Hello everyone!
I am Wai Ling Fong, a PhD candidate in Higher Education, and the creator of The Mindful PhD.
As someone who has been through the ups and downs of a PhD program, I understand the challenges that come with it. From feeling burnt out and experiencing anxiety, to having sleepless nights and moments of discouragement, I know first hand what’s it like to struggle with mental health while pursuing a PhD.
But I also know the importance of prioritizing self care. As the first in my family to pursue a PhD, I am proud of my journey and determined to reach the finish line.
That's why I created The Mindful PhD - to provide a space for graduate students like myself to share our experiences, strategies, and tips for taking care of our mental wellness. I also realized that this is a unique part of my life which I will never experience again. Hence I want to document this phase of my doctoral candidacy as much as I can.
I hope you'll join me on this journey and that The Mindful PhD becomes a valuable resource for you as you pursue your own PhD.
