The law of attraction decoded: A short and intuitive guide to successful manifestation
How to use your thoughts in a conscious way to bring you closer to what you desire
Thoughts can be quite intimidating at times. They can cause stress, sadness and self-doubt, and yet, they are powerful when it comes to making necessary changes in our life. When we spend time without distractions and let our thoughts flow, this is when we can bring our subconscious to light. Although certain thoughts may evoke unpleasant emotions in us, our thoughts and emotional reactions to them tell us all we need to know about our deepest fears and desires. But we are not victim to our thoughts, we can actually learn to direct them in a way that is beneficial to us.
A few years ago while still at university, a fellow student recommended a book to me: “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. I had pretty much forgotten about it until five years later when I found myself coincidentally staring at the familiar book title in the spirituality section of my local bookstore. I bought the book, and that was my first touchpoint with the law of attraction, manifestation and the powers of imagination. I quickly learned that all of these concepts are based on the same premise: That we can control our reality through our thoughts.
“The Secret” did not work for me - initially. Not because the teachings are not accurate - but I simply had no idea how to apply them in an effective manner. Many years of watching Youtube videos later I can say that this has changed. Not in all areas of my life of course, but certainly in some. Even if you don’t believe in spirituality, play with the concept of the law of attraction if you want to - it’s not harmful to try and you might get a much clearer vision of where you’re at and where you still want to go in life.
What is the law of attraction?
The law of attraction is based on the premise that like attracts like. Our thoughts must attract circumstances into our life that are in vibrational alignment with them. What we think about with sufficient intensity must ultimately become expressed in our physical reality. It’s law.
How to apply the law of attraction correctly?
The following might sound paradoxical but the key to applying the law of attraction correctly is to not forcefully apply it to change your 3D reality. If you have in the back of your mind that you think certain thoughts only to have an effect in your real life, you vibrate at the level of lack. Your subconscious realizes that you currently do not yet have your desire and the universe responds at the same frequency (remember, it’s law!). You must therefore come to a state of mind where you are convinced that you already have what you desire. Sure, it sounds a bit like mental acrobatics but applying the following techniques will give you a competitive edge.
1. The powers of imagination
A manifestation booster is correct imagination. The more realistic our mental image or scene about our desire is, the faster the universe can respond. Godfather of the law of attraction Neville Goddard states that the time before we fall asleep is particularly good to impress the subconscious mind without creating resistance to our desires. In that groggy state - also known as SATS (State Akin To Sleep), imagining our ideal self and life is the most effective, as our mind has the least defenses then. Make it a routine: Before you go to sleep, find a way to relax, feel your body and dive into your imagination. Imagine your desire as if you already have it, and feel the feelings that you would have if your desire was already yours. It does not matter if this is solely in your imagination, your imagination can bring about the same feelings as something you experience in real life. Always remember the correct mindset when you imagine before sleep: You visualize just to have a good time and to enjoy what you see and feel, not to bring specific changes into your life (this will keep you detached, but more on this below).
There are also other techniques that can help you visualize when you are awake, for example in combination with meditation. The important thing however is to get as relaxed as possible (to get into an Alpha brain wave state for best absorption of new information) and to visualize as clearly and vividly as possible - for example as if you are in a movie theater, watching a very realistic movie about your life, or just getting into the specific feeling state that you would be in in your ideal life.
Special thanks also go to the great
for recommending the fantastic meditation & mind control methods of José Silva (I linked a video here with a short beginner’s guide).2. Detachment
Once you have thought about your desires, make sure to detach. Detachment will shift your vibration away from the state of lack. Do not think about your desires anymore and take your mind off of wanting to change your life. Have fun, be light, do not worry. Even if you have to temporarily think “I give up, I will not have this desire in my life” in order to detach, this will still help you and not undo your manifestation because of the intensity of your prior thoughts. The higher intensity thought or feeling must always be expressed. Do not stress about time as each manifestation will come to you when it’s the right time.
3. Repetition
Repetition is key to fast-track your manifestation. Repeat the process of imagining and detaching as long as you need to - and as long as it feels like pleasure and not like force. The moment it feels like force, take a step back and focus on something else. Most importantly: Have fun with the law of attraction, and find joy in the little things that you could already manifest - maybe even without knowing about the law. We all manifest subconsciously all the time and the universe always responds in correspondence with what we think, believe and feel. Have confidence that things will work out in your favor. The lighter and the more carefree your approach to manifesting, the easier and more natural it becomes.
Here are 3 major signs that your manifestation is working and is already on its way to you:
You feel no resistance in the form of nervousness or anxiety towards your desire. Instead, your desire feels natural to you.
You overcome obstacles easily;
You see “Birds Before Land”: Small signs that prelude your “big” breakthrough and signal that you are moving in the right direction. For example, if you are trying to manifest a relationship, you might notice more people approaching you. Or if you wish to manifest more wealth, you might see increases of money coming to you even if you don’t realize it as such - a friend inviting you to lunch, a discount on an item you’ve been eyeing for several months, an unexpected salary increase.
You might not believe in the law of attraction and think of it as a bit too “hocus pocus”. Even if you don’t, the teachings can inspire you to think about your goals and desires with more intentionality. Imagining your ideal life will give you clarity of how it looks like and what is part of it. You can then take concrete steps to achieve it. It can also give you a new sense of purpose and direction if you are in a life phase where you feel powerless or like you are living on autopilot. Life is about experimenting with what can make you happy and give you fulfillment. I’d say in 9 times out of 10, trying out new approaches and working on our mental patterns is certainly worth a try.
If you want, feel free to let me know about your experience with conscious manifestation and the techniques you used in the comments below.
Finally, here are two books that you might find useful and that I have tested myself and can recommend if you are interested in the manifestation topic (no advertisement):
Ask and it is given - Esther Hicks;
Feeling is the secret - Neville Goddard.
Thank you so much for restacking - it means a lot!! I wish you a great day, @Precious Mumzumi! 💙
hi Katharina, good read, reminds me of a book i read as a very young man "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill . . . he stressed what he called "positive affirmations" displacing doubtful thoughts with useful thoughts and so forth . . . i began applying those principles and BANG! along came kids and i was forced to dive into the rat race . . . there went that lol . . . after the kids lef home, everything became easier both financially and with regard to free time . . . also, i became less ambitious relative to money and simply wandered thru life as a mild hedonist but my hedonisms were all nature exploration related so not at all detrimental . . . so my advice to the young would be to do this before you have kids and before you grow old :)
