Hi hi. It looks like layoff season, with many layoffs at Twitter after Elon Musk bought the company; as well as at Meta who also laid off 11,000 employees. My goodness.
Twitter’s massive layoff continues
The madness from last week continues, as even more people are fired and laid off at Twitter, after Elon Musk’s takeover, in many of their offices around the world. Of course, the employees in Accra, Ghana got the short end of the stick when it came to their termination. Just days after the office in Accra opened, the employees were let go, while the building was closed. Where other employees were offered severance packages and the like, the employees in Africa get none of that. That’s a really low move, Elon.
I hope they sue.
On the other hand, there are reports that some employees are being asked to come back.
Jack’s take on the matter:
Coulda just said nothing, methinks🤷🏾♀️
Still on Twitter.
Users are not left out of the changes currently raging through the company. Apart from the verification badge thing from last week, there are reports that Elon might want to put the whole of Twitter behind a paywall. LOL. Maybe he’s trying to make some (or maybe all?) of the $44,000,000,000 he paid for the company.
About layoffs in general.
Meta also laid off 11,000 employees this week. Holy cow. In an open letter, he addresses the terminated employees.
That really sucks. Hoping the people who have lost their jobs so cruelly get all the support they need.
In other, brighter news…
