Behind “The Coffee and Moments” - the inspiration
Isn't it fascinating to express feelings, reality, emotions, and sentiments through the power of words? Writing allows us to tap into the depths of our minds and bring forth our innermost thoughts. It is a medium of communication that exceeds time and space, unravelling the intricacies of our own thoughts, as the chaos in our minds begins to take shape and form.
But, how do we start writing? What do we write?
A question that has consumed my thoughts for countless years.
I've always been drawn to the allure of writing. The idea of transforming a blank canvas into a world filled with characters, plots, and emotions has always fascinated me. Yet, despite my love for writing, I often find myself staring at the intimidating blank page, unsure of where to begin.
Over the years, I have discovered that writing has no specific rules or guidelines. However, by adopting a few strategies and techniques anyone can become a better writer.
Firstly, I believe that reading extensively is imperative. Reading exposes us to different writing styles and ideas. Whether it's novels, blogs, articles, or poetry; diverse reading broadens our perspective, helps us gain inspiration, and enhances our ability to express ourselves better.
Secondly, practice makes perfect.
And now, how do we practice? I might say, (or even books on writing would say) 1. We practice by writing consistently and regularly. 2. Setting aside dedicated time each day to write, even if it's just for a few minutes, can help cultivate the habit of writing. 3. Finding a quiet space, listening to music, or creating an environment that is conducive to writing can help us focus. And so on…
But, believe me, I've been through this phase and I know it all comes back to the start as a vicious circle. For many of us the thought of starting to write can be overwhelming. We feel the weight of our own expectations, the pressure to create something meaningful and captivating. We fear that our words will fall flat, that our ideas will be unoriginal, and that our writing will be dismissed as insignificant.
But perhaps, the answer lies not in trying to meet those expectations, it is simply in letting go. It is about taking tiny steps and letting our thoughts flow freely without judgment, it is about capturing a moment, giving voice to our thoughts. It is a process that requires patience and practice.
I believe that writing is not just about producing a masterpiece right off the bat; It is a journey, a process, and sometimes, it's okay to start with a single word. The first words you write may feel awkward, hesitant, even clumsy. But it definitely gets better. yes, that's the beauty of writing – it evolves.
When faced with the question of what to write, I have discovered that utilizing writing prompts can be immensely beneficial. Writing prompts provide a starting point helping to break through any lack of inspiration. They serve as a springboard that propels our imagination and allow us to explore new ideas and perspectives.
Whether in the form of a single sentence, or a captivating scenario, writing prompts can trigger our creativity and ignite a flame within us. The best way to begin is by simply describing the scene – the sights, the sounds, the smells.
I am, in fact, exploring this idea of creating a vivid backdrop putting together the personality and nature of a character allowing the story to come alive in my mind. This as an exercise, in my opinion, is a great way to start writing. I call it “Coffee and Moments”. In this project, I hope to get inspired by the people and moments around me, putting together the pieces of these character's thoughts, their quirks, and their desires, allowing myself into their world and uncovering their story. To me, "Coffee and Moments" is more than just a writing exercise; it marks the commencement of my writing journey. I am ready to dive into the depths of my imagination and let my words flow freely.
So, let us let go of our fears, silence our inner critic, and allow ourselves to be vulnerable on the page. Writing is a powerful tool that allows us to connect to a world beyond our own. Let us start by making a list of topics and questions that are interesting and thought-provoking and begin the writing journey. Write about the subjects that ignite a fire within our soul. Because, in the end, writing is all about finding our own voice and using it to express the stories that form within us. It is a way to uncover the depths of your own being.
So, let us take that first step. Let us embrace that blank page, and let our words flow, for the world is waiting to hear our story.
