At this time of year, when seasons change and the year ends, we are often faced with a multitude of questions. Questions we ask ourselves and one another as end-of-year reflections and reviews seep into the various inboxes of our lives.
Regardless of whether you subscribe to the January new year, new energy new start vibes, winter and yin energy this time of year gifts us, is an opportunity for you to think about how you want your coming days, weeks and months to feel. Notice here I said feel and not be.
When you choose to act on the intentions you set is entirely up to you. You don't need to immediately spring into action when the clock strikes January 1st. Some plans may need to be supported by the bloom of Mother Nature’s new year and spring into action in March.
Today, I'm not going to share with you more questions, instead, a reminder to create some time for stillness.
Time to look within and observe.
Notice what is coming up for you right now.
Some things it may be supportive for you to notice;
Whose end-of-year review or new-year goals fill you with glee as their name arrives in your inbox and whose name makes your eyes roll
Notice while you do a seasonal cleanse or digital declutter the elements you are leaving and the ones you are releasing
Notice how your body is feeling right now? Where might it feel tension. Where might it feel peace and contentment
Notice the things you keep shifting around your to-do list
Notice the percentage of your camera roll that is work vs life
Notice how you feel about money
Notice whose laugh you can’t wait to hear or whose smile you can't wait to see
Notice the ideas that you made happen this year
Notice the way you felt about the collective quiet of betwixmas
Notice the way you are currently caring for yourself
Notice the little moments of joy that surround you
Notice what happens when you simply pause and observe.
Enjoy the pause.
P.S The eagle-eyed amongst us may have noticed the transition of the name of my Substack space to ‘Through Moments of Burn to Bloom’ the even more eagled-eyed may have noticed my handle has shifted from Nina | Recess Living to Nina E. Both of these changes were gifted to me through my own noticing! More on this to come in my next post.
Til then I’m sending you Love, Peace and Light and a Nudge to Cultivate Space for Stillness and Noticing
Love these reflections, Nina! Noticing the things I keep shifting around my to-do list is a good one for me. Enjoy the pause and the best for 2024. Will be in touch. Clare x
Oh I need to pay attention to what I'm pushing back in my to-do list. There are things I "snooze" on for weeks at a time. Also love the idea of simply noticing how I feel when I pause and listen. Thanks for these suggestions ✨
