grieving from afar
“maybe poetry can’t stop war … that might be asking too much of poetry. but, maybe poetry can allow us to be with the situation of war.”
~ Kai Cheng Thom (paraphrased)
the world has felt heavy lately. today feels heavy.
but/and i want to show up, to practice presence.
i’m trying.
to learn from these feelings. to sit with darkness. (may one day we dance.)
i’m doing.
i’m being.
grieving from afar
the loss of life
i am here, yet i feel you
i do not compare my grief to yours
though i witness you
hold what i can
so you are not alone
history is here
the future is now
watching the world
fearing the worst
allowing space
for hope
are you on your way?
i will wait for you
