I understand the pressure of working around the clock without giving ourselves (or forgetting completely) a break. However, taking breaks is equally important, and here's my story of how a 2-day no-work break in Bangalore helped me rejuvenate my creativity and overall well-being.
It's essential to unplug from work and enjoy the present moment guilt-free.
That’s the biggest problem of a modern life; guilt conquers us all if we take out time to breathe.
As if we were wasting time and the precious opportunities that we could have probably achieved by spending the whole day in front of the screen working (or scrolling). I am one of the same. Though, I miss 2010, when there was not much of a rush or coolness to be a hustler, being constantly busy.
When I took a break recently, I allowed myself to be present at the moment and recharge my creative energy. I spent time looking at the trees and appreciating the beauty around me. How often do we do that?
Exploring new places and trying new things can help boost our creativity. During my break, I took a day trip to Mysuru with friends. This experience opened my mind and allowed me to see daily life differently, sparking new ideas and creative inspiration. I fell in love with this version of the color yellow :)
Taking breaks is not a luxury but a necessity for our well-being. Our bodies and minds need rest and rejuvenation to function at their best. Vacations can help reduce stress levels and promote mental fitness. Also, it helped me to reconnect with my friends. Whatsapp messages can never do justice to being around friends.
Making it a priority to take breaks regularly is essential for our creativity and overall well-being. It allows us to reset and refresh, bringing new energy to our work. So, give yourself permission to take a break guilt-free and enjoy the present moment.
I saw a water apple plant and took some photographs. I even tasted a few, and they were just like water. Nothing fancy, but water, which also has a taste. Do you try to taste water? Try it next time. And remember not to scroll your screen while drinking.
To quote Maya Angelou, "Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us."
So, take a break and don’t rush back to work, but enjoy the moment.
Here are some actionable steps to follow on your next guilt-free break:
Prioritize self-care: Take regular breaks to recharge and boost creativity.
Set clear boundaries: Establish dedicated break times and communicate them to your colleagues, clients, or family to ensure uninterrupted downtime.
Enjoy activities you love: Engage in joyful and relaxing pursuits during breaks. No hustling.
Disconnect from distractions: Take a break from technology to clear your mind. Use only the camera to capture moments.
Move your body: Incorporate physical activity into breaks for mental well-being. Walk as much as you can.
Seek inspiration from nature: Spend time outdoors to reduce stress and foster creativity. Allow sunlight to nurture you.
Practice mindfulness: Use breaks for deep breathing or meditation to relax.
Remember, taking guilt-free breaks benefits your mental health and creativity and enables you to bring your best self to your work and relationships.
I wish you a calm day đŸŒ»
