Quick current affairs note; British Empire cont. (2); and... Swing Low Sweet Chariot 🧐🤔
Dear Honest Men and Bonnie Lassies,
A very good morning to you all.
This weeks Value Life (VL) Mini-series Episode 04.2 (<9m):
starts with a wee bit on current affairs (there is a lot happening at the moment and also feel compelled to add this note to show solidarity with the Iranians protesting);
(2m23s) then continues with a short follow-up on the British Empire (please see further resources below); and
then, just for you, (6m24s) finish with a wee song that I never thought I would sing, but I am so glad that I can now 😉
I may have mispronounced (or Scottish pronounced 🤷♂️) Myanmar in the video too - don’t hold it against me please.
If you fancy stirring the pot a little and nudging this tweet along it would be greatly appreciated 👊🏻😘

Climate Week 2022, NYC
I applied for tickets and attended a few presentations at the Climate Week event in NYC this week (virtually ). A few quick notes / take aways of the presentations I managed to attend:
The people running Climate Week are pressing for accountability, justice and urgency (change at the right pace).
There are a lot of seemingly competent people working on the topic, but still not enough is being done particularly by big businesses. David Miliband (former UK Labour party MP) was there and seemed intelligible.
Systemic change is needed with respect to how profit is generated, transportation, the way we live and our systems etc..
Equity and sustainability need to come together.
The banking and financial systems are extremely dated and built to support industrial age expansion projects. The financial sector is actually actively funding and investing in hundreds of new fossil fuel projects. Realising these profit driven initiatives will likely have severe repercussions on the environment (this ties in with what we said in VL Newsletter, 02-Sept-2022 regarding the Friends of the Earth Scotland campaign to stop Jackdaw (which by the way, 60,000 people signed - thank you if you added your name to the list too)).
As always, any form of communications would be lovely and more than welcome.
Have a great weekend when it comes and 🙏 thank you 🙏 very much for your time!
Big hugs and much love,
Ross
