Break time…time to come up for some air.
Chasing storms is my hobby and part of what helps keep me sain in this insane world in which we live in. Yes our immediate future does look troubling for America and the world. But remember all is not lost nor will be. In time this storm will too pass. Getting through this coming hell won’t be easy but in the end we win because God wins! Take a break. Breath. Look around and enjoy the good in life.

This past Saturday my wife and I spent the day in the southern Sacramento mountains of south-central New Mexico visiting with family. When the desert valley heats up we head west to the mountains whenever we can. Summertime temperatures average 20º to 30º cooler than the desert valley floor. Afternoon thunderstorms occur most days.
One such thunderstorm produced lots of small hail and dropped the temperature down to 53º on State Highway 244 between Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, New Mexico. Cloudcroft sits at 8,750’ above sea level and Ruidoso 6,900’. The ground fog the hail created during the storm was pretty cool too. Yes, we found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow too. Look close and see where the end of the rainbow was.
I didn’t notice at the time but my truck antenna had wiggled loose and is kind of a sore spot in the video, oh well stuff happens right? I’ve recorded 38 days so far this summer with daytime highs of 100º or higher. We have had 6 days with highs of 110º or higher. Two of those reached 111º. Roswell, New Mexico has officially topped out at 112º twice so far this summer. My year to date rainfall stands at a paltry 1.91”. Far below the normal of almost 6” by this time of the year. Our annual rainfall is only 12.50”.
