Have You Ever Seen The Rain Coming Down On A Sunny Day?

Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

There is nothing remarkable about my cover video. There is however a message within it. I was hoping to film some decent daylight lightning shots from a couple of weak thunderstorms nearby yesterday afternoon. No such luck. However I captured something just as striking (pun intended) and interesting. Rain pouring down on a sunny day.

While laying in bed last night it hit me…Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1970 hit “Have You Ever Seen The Rain Coming Down On A Sunny Day?” While driving around in the rain yesterday I really didn’t think about the song or what I got from my video while uploading it this morning. Put the two together and here are my thoughts.

We all know that there is a storm coming to America or most of us do anyway. And we know that there is always a calm before a storm. I think that we are somewhere in-between the calm and the storm. Things are bad now but not nearly as bad as they are fixing to become.

For the past three years we’ve been watching the storm clouds gather with the first violent wind gust coming with the 2020 Election Fraud results. Then another powerful gust hit America with the January 6th Capitol protests and fallout. Then came the COVID Plandemic. Since then one storm (political and economic and many others) after another has battered America. The list is nearly endless.

Congress is in recess and given the political drama surround the Biden crime family no doubt things will likely boil over when they return in September. An impending economic crisis associated with the collapse of the stock markets and the value of the dollar is at our front door. Looming ever closer is the showdown between NATO and Russia over Ukraine. China and Taiwan are still dancing around the table. North Korea, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Africa are all hotspots fixing to ignite. Attacks against our industrial infrastructure and agricultural interests continue. Our major cities are overrun with poverty, illegal immigrants, and the homeless. Our southern border emergency grows worse with time.

On and on the list grows. It’s mind numbing to say the least.

In the midst of all of this trouble God still sits on his throne and is in control of our lives. All is not lost nor will be. There is hope on the horizon. The sun (son-Jesus) still shines in spite of the rain or the storm. A scripture came to mind.

Many of us have become like Elijah. Many of us are tired, worn out, angry, and sick of all of this. It is so easy to talk ourselves into believing that we are the only truth bearers. Thinking that many have forsaken the cause or plan and given up. We get mad or upset when we think that our loved ones, friends, or viewers don’t listen to what we have to say. Then like Elijah we start feeling sorry for ourselves.

More than anything we just want our lives and peace back. Deep down most of us know that this is not going to happen anytime soon. We don’t like admitting or facing this cold hard truth but we have to if we are to survive.

My question is: Do we still hear that “still small voice” that has been guiding us through this fiery wilderness all along? That still small voice is our calm in the middle of the coming storm…if we listen to it.

1 Kings 19:11

8And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God. 9And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Creedence Clearwater Revival Lyrics

"Have You Ever Seen The Rain"

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know, it's been coming for some time
When it's over, so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know, shining down like water

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?
Coming down on a sunny day

Yesterday, and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know, been that way for all my time
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow
I know, it can't stop, I wonder

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?
Coming down on a sunny day

Yeah!
