March is here, which means Seachtain na Gaeilge, World Book Day, St. Patrick's Day, and this year even includes Easter! We will be marking all these in our libraries, read on to find out more.
Friday 8th March is International Women’s Day and to mark the occasion Castlepollard Library are holding a talk with Women's Health Physiotherapist, Michelle Lyons. She will be available to answer your questions on a range of topics, including Back Pain, Menopause, Fertility, Athletes, Bone health and more. You can also leave your question in the drop box at the library desk if you would like to submit a question for Michelle prior to the event.

Are you between 13 and 18 years of age? If so we want to hear from you. Westmeath Libraries are inviting teenagers to share their views on what the library can do for you. Drop in to Mullingar Library anytime between 4 - 5pm on Monday 11th March 2024. No booking required.
The biggest Irish language festival in Ireland and the world happens from 1st - 17th March with Seachtain na Gaeilge. Call in to your local library and celebrate the language.
Aidan Heavey Library, Athlone - CELEBRATING SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE: Join the chat "as Gaeilge" in our Conversation Circle for adults and young adults. There will also be fun and games including "cúpla focail", with AFRC's Spraoi Youth Club (Age 7+). Refreshments available.

Mullingar Library - A day of celebration of Irish culture on Thursday 14th March. Join us for a lunchtime concert (1pm-2pm) with musicians Paul McCool, John Skelly and invited guests for some traditional tunes and songs
Join us that evening from 6.30-7.30 for a talk by local historian Ruth Illingworth about local culture and folklore
Celebrate Astronomy Week in Westmeath Libraries
In a Galaxy Far Far Away… Ivan Merrick will be in Mullingar Library on March 12th at 6:30pm to give this fascinating talk on the story behind twelve different galaxies found in our Universe.
All ages are welcome but booking is required.

This talk is free but booking is required.

Music Therapy Sessions - Aidan Heavey Library, Athlone
Croí na hÉireann presents two music therapy sessions that will take place on 15th March in the Sensory Room in Athlone library. These sessions are suitable for children and teenagers with additional needs, led by Bernadette Moran, a qualified music therapist and talented traditional Irish musician. These therapeutic sessions offers children aged 6-17 an opportunity to engage in interactive musical activities. Traditional Irish Music will be incorporated into these sessions.
Session 1 will run from 3:30pm to 4.10pm and is suitable for children aged 6-12 years old.
Session 2 will run from 4.15 to 5.00 pm and it suitable for teenagers aged 13-17 years old.
