Fueler Challenge Day 1: Write a letter to your 10-year-old about "How you are currently doing?”
When you're a child, you dream of growing up. When you grow up all you think about is your childhood.
Hey, cutie pie,
First of all, how are you?
Are you still a geek about science?
Are you still excited about your first science project which was about creating a volcanic eruption with Eno?
Are you still thrilled to get back home, switch to the alternate channels on your TV, and start playing your new video game?
Are you still enjoying playing with the set of Barbie dolls?
Are you the same guy who was stoked when he got to know about CRICKET, and how does it feel to hold a cricket BAT?
Well, I want you to know that I am really, really thankful to you for being the way you are - always curious to know the silliest of things in the world and smiling through your idiosyncrasies.
You know now, whenever I smile, even at the silliest of things in life thinking that I will get through it, I remember your face and a quote by Ayushmann Khurana; "Baat baat pe muskurata hai yeh aadmi, lagta hai kisi chote sheher se aaya hai."
I can't stop smiling even when I write this; thank you for always carrying that "chote sheher se aaya hua aadmi" spirit in your heart.
I am indebted to your way of being and will always be until I finally rest my head in front of the doors of heaven.
You've become a writer in the future. You'd never imagine how good I am at pouring my heart out like this, but you're one of the reasons. Remember those dictation tests you would participate in to write the most difficult words in a second when they would come out of your teacher's mouth? Yes, those tests have reaped some grandiose results for me, your future self.
Cheers to that.
Talking about me, right now, my life is fairly good. If I were you, I would never imagine myself being even this articulate to talk to you through a letter like this. They say time machines are a thing of the past and the future. But who would have imagined that this present moment would make me cry those happy tears for you?
There are more things I would like to tell you; you're now more confident than you were. I have kept your love for cricket still alive like the never-ending streak of yearly IPL seasons.
Currently, I am planning to buy a Nintendo with my next month's salary just to make you (my inner child) happy. You now have a favorite YouTuber; just saying, that sort of inspired me to do exactly this - to feed your inner child, haha. It is crazy, right?
I know you have always dreamed of growing up, and I won't say a single thing about whatever you dream about, even if you plan to change the whole trajectory of your lifetime. You and I know that from the heart; we are absolute game-changers.
Also, it's really sad to mention this, but now you have turned into a cat lover from an absolute admirer of golden retrievers. Sad that your GOLDEN days are over, lol.
In the future, things are changing rapidly. So, I would like not to pressure you into doing A sorts of things while you love doing B sorts of things.
Just a single piece of advice from my side would be:
Keep doing the things you're passionate about as wholeheartedly as possible.
Stop overthinking, bro.
Some end notes; I had only thought and heard of people talking to their younger selves with whatever means possible, but this was so relieving and lovely I just can't thank you enough for this possibility in the randomness of the universe.
Adios. Milte hai fir kabhi. Likhta rahunga jab bhi time milega.
