We shift from Air to Water when the Sun enters Pisces tonight, February 18th at 8:12pm PT.
I’ve been dipping in and out of the Krishnamurti’s Journal this week and was struck this morning by this passage where he writes:
‘All things need space. If rats are enclosed in a restricted space they destroy each other. The small birds sitting on a telegraph wire of an evening have the necessary space between each of them… the conditioning of the mind through so-called education, religion, tradition and culture gives little space for the flowering of the mind and heart. The belief, the experience according to that belief, the opinion, the concepts, the word, is the me, the ego which creates the limited space within whose border is consciousness. The me has its being and its activity within the small space it has created for itself. All of its problems and sorrows…are within its own frontiers, and there is no space. The known occupies all its consciousness. Consciousness is the known. Within this frontier there is no solution to all the problems human beings have put together. And yet they won’t let go, they cling to the known or invent the unknown hoping it will solve their problems…Meditation is the emptying of the consciousness of its contents, the known, the me.”

The Sun enters Pisces tonight at 8:12pm PT and we shift from Air to Water. In the Northern Hemisphere, the world softens and thaws. The water rises in the creeks and rivers as the snow and ice melt. We in turn, surrender to our need to soften and to dissolve whatever tension - and hardness - manifested during Capricorn and Aquarius seasons.
We release Capricorn’s inflexibility and Aquarius’ need for independence and originality.
The constellation of Pisces is very long and drawn out - pointing to this requirement for spaciousness. The sign is of two fishes. They are not joined and they do not face each other. In fact when you look up at the constellation in the night sky it’s hard to imagine that the fish are even aware of each other. The zodiacal sign of Pisces is a sign of separation and distribution.
During this season, give yourself over to the creation and maintenance of spaciousness. Undoubtedly you may need to sacrifice something to make room.
The element of water is associated with life and regeneration, healing and cleansing. Focus on these themes this month.
In the psychological context, Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces corresponds to the unconscious. The Piscean ocean is the unconscious and the fish are its contents. During this season we empty ourselves of conditioning and choose instead to dive deeper into the unconscious.
What is beyond this frontier of “me”?
If you do not have a meditation practice this would be a good time to start one.
Practical Magickal steps during this season include:
Connecting to the ocean by creating a sea altar. Place driftwood, shells and either a picture of the ocean or a statue of an ocean god/goddess.
Nothing of course beats actually spending time near the ocean.

Mercury enters Pisces 11:28pm PT
Mercury leaves Pisces March 11th.
You are of two minds. Thoughts swim in like a shoal of fish and then - nothing. You’re not sure you are in agreement with anything because nothing makes sense for very long. The best way to navigate this transit where Mercury is in detriment is to write or tell yourself a story. If you find you can’t come to any reasonable conclusion on anything - turn to paper and pen. Thoughts like words during this season are slippery and wet - dripping with emotion…
or they are fizzy bubbles of numinosity.
Best to reflect on the space between the words. What isn’t being said?
An excellent transit for divination (bones, cards, shells, sticks…).

Watch that you don’t overspend and if you’re trying to stay away from sweet treats this aspect will test you today. Otherwise a good day for entertaining without being showy or extravagant.
Wishing you a wonder-full week!
