Welcome! Let me tell you about my exciting trip to Nashville, Tennessee!
So, hereโs the thing:
Yesterday may have been one of the most exciting, jam-packed days of my life. I have so much to share with you all I may have to make this a two-parter. I hope you all love my time stamp posts as much as I do, Iโve been on a roll lately! I do have some more interviews releasing soon including my own (as requested), but Iโll get through these next few big posts. Todayโs song of the day is by Kyshona:
7:20 - Boarding The Bus
I had been looking forward to this trip for months now, and there the bus was right in front of me, taking me to endless possibilities. We had our itinerary laid out for us, but I was certain the unexpected would happen. I was right. We drove through Chattanooga laughing and reminiscing about what weโd get up to in Nashville. I finally sat down with Jesse and interviewed him, and later I played Skyrim for the very first time with Owen. I would have napped like Lateasha, but I was just too pumped to try to get any rest.
9:28 - Weโre In Nashville!
We arrived before we knew it and began walking to our first destination. One thing you need to know about me is I love the city and its people. It always reminds me of what it was like when I lived in Atlanta before moving to Polk. One of my most recent aspirations is to work for a nonprofit in an urban area such as Nashville. Serving my community is a huge passion of mine, and I think in a larger demographic I could help so much more people.
Country Music Hall Of Fame And Museum
The first thing we step in when we walk into the Country Music Hall Of Fame is the Taylor Swift Education Center. Can you believe it!? Not only does my role model have her own center, but she had plenty of memorabilia from her music videos on display. Our group was led into a classroom where we and about forty others were welcomed by Ken Paulson. He is the director of the Free Speech Center at MTSU and a spectacular speaker. Once we took our seats he greeted us to the most intimate concert experience weโd ever experience. We were then introduced to Dave Paulson, Kristin Weber, Kyshona, and Joseph Wooten. Let me tell you a bit about these amazing artists!
About The Artists:
Dave Paulson
Dave Paulson is a Nashville Music Reporter and artist. He performed many great songs for us, and his voice was to die for. I canโt wait to listen to his album and dig through all of the articles heโs written.
Kristin Weber
Kristin Weber is a string instrumentalist and a beautiful singer from Nashville. Sheโs worked and performed with the likes of Dolly Parton, Lorde, Kacey Musgraves, Cage The Elephant, and much more. In 2021 she won the award for American Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year.
Kyshona
Kyshona is a music therapist and social rights activist. How cool is that? I felt a lot of empowerment when listening to her music, hope even. She and the others moved me to tears as they sang of peace and freedom; I had never heard anything like it before in my life.
Joseph Wooten
His appearance and soothing voice seemed so familiar, and I soon remembered Joseph Wooten as the keyboardist for the Steve Miller Band. He also fronts his own band The Hands of Soul and is a part of The Wooten Brothers โ a family band. Not only is he a talented artist and speaker, but he is also the founder of the nonprofit organization โI Matter! You Matter!โ
Bill of Rights: The Remix!
The five of them put on a show for us they dubbed Bill of Rights: The Remix! We learned about the first ten amendments and some notable others and spoke of the power of music and how the stanzas of globally-acclaimed artists can mean so much more. I even won a t-shirt from Ken by answering some trivia! I am so glad to share with my readers now what I have learned from such an experience. When I left the classroom I made sure to shake every one of their hands, and when as we began our self-guided I caught myself crying. I didnโt expect a hurricane of emotions to hit me during that concert.
But wait, thereโs more to come!
Yes! My journey through Nashville is not quite done, so stick around for Wednesday to see how the rest of my time in Music City went. Share this post with friends and family and subscribe if you havenโt already! Here is what you can expect in Fridayโs newsletter:
What is Younger Colors?
Welcome to Younger Colors! Whether you have been an active reader since August or are a new viewer, I thought Iโd give a brief overview of what we do here. My name is Ethan Kline, and I run the schoolโs unofficial PCHS newspaper. Here on Younger Colors, I blog about student life, sports, and even spread activism among our student body. While you interact with YC and its many platforms you help support various nonprofit organizations. I make absolutely no money from my business as everything I make goes towards the nonprofits Asian Americans Advancing Justice and Vouchers 4 Veggies.
Younger Colors took off last August and now has over 300 active readers. Iโve even hired a few volunteer writers along the way. With over 100 archived posts today, you might be wondering where to start first! Below are a few posts I think youโll find interesting:
