Can I recommend all writers try narrating and recording their stories? Hear me out here.

You don’t necessarily have to put them out into the world but give me a second. Here’s why:

  1. It is my silver bullet for proofreading. You WILL NOT BELIEVE the things you pick up reading out loud, it’s frankly terrifying.

  2. It lets you know the correct inflection of your dialogue. You can make sure a sentence really hits! And if it doesn’t you have an opportunity to fix it.

I am a guitar teacher by trade so a very real part of my job is getting people to practice. Consequently, I’ve always had a leg up on my own motivation to write.

There are two things I do these day to get myself to face off against a white page and a blinking cursor.
